About us

Taizo Okagaki, currently the president of Wancher Inc., had the very first idea of creating Wancher in August 1990 when he was conducting the "Desert Greening" research for ODA in Egypt. After 10 years of researching and developing, in 2000, Mr. Taizo established a stationery company under the name of THT Inc. in Oita, Japan.
In 2011, the Wancher brand name was first registered and the THT Inc. was also changed to the name of Wancher Inc.
Since then, Wancher has been focusing on making unique writing instruments, especially fountain pens, to introduce to friends all over the world.

In recent years, Wancher also focuses on developing a collection of timepieces that are specially designed for multiple purposes.

Our mission

We pursue the dream of making a product (either a fountain pen or a watch) that can make people happy. Every single item that we bring our customers comes with the finest quality, meticulous craftsmanship, and true values. And our mission is to support as many artisans and preserve as many arts as possible.

Our team

As a start-up company, we are a small team of 24 members from Japan, Vietnam, Indonesia, Bangladesh, and China.

With more than 70% of the revenue generated from the International Market, most of our full-time members are foreigners. So if you are looking for an international working environment in Oita, Japan, you are at the right place!

What career choices you can have at Wancher

  • You can work for either the International Market or Domestic Market. To work for the Domestic Market, the requirement for the Japanese level will be a little higher.

  • We currently need new team members in these fields: Sales & Marketing, Design, Customer and Fulfillment Services.

What you will do in each field

  • Sales & Marketing: You will be assisting in managing websites, social media, and other selling channels. The goal is to increase sales revenue and the number of customers. This is important work because it decides the growth of our company.

  • Design: This is the hard part because you are going to be responsible for the presence of the company by delivering the best Media products possible. You are going to take pictures, editing videos, creating banners, and sometimes, designing new products for Wancher.

  • Customer and Fulfillment Services: We have many customers and products to take care of and you will be helping us with that. As long the the customers are happy and stay loyal to Wancher and the fulfillment goes smoothly with full control in our inventory, we know you are doing a good job.

Recruitment process

We appreciate your interest in our company. As well as applying for vacant positions, you can also apply under your own initiative. 

Our employees are part of a global family working in a fair, open, and trusted environment. It is important for us to ensure that new employees joining Wancher have a strong commitment to our shared values.

Since we do not want to waste your time and effort, our recruitment process will be as short and practical as possible. Here is how it goes:

  • Application reviewing.

  • First screening result informing.

  • An interview with the boss and team leader. This is when we share with you more about our company and you share with us more about your personality and ability.

  • Second screening result informing.

  • Probation (1-2 months). This is a paid probation where we are going to test your skills and characteristics.

  • Welcome to the team! If you are a good fit for the team, you will be chosen as a full-time employee after the probation period.
